How this GitHub leaderboard ranks you
TopMe.dev is a free GitHub leaderboard for job seekers. Recruiters and hiring managers skim. A public rank based on real GitHub work gives you a shot at staying near the top of that skim — without paying for placement.
What we measure
- Public repositories (forks excluded): 30%
- Total stars on those repos: 35%
- Followers: 15%
- Public events in the last 90 days: 15%
- Account age: 5%
Counts are log-scaled so a few huge repos do not erase everyone else. Keep shipping: activity and new public work are how you hold your place.
How recruiters scan the board
Filter by open to work, verified owner, language, and location. Rank stays a career signal — not a daily commit streak. “Active this month” is a badge from public events, not a game score.
What you can submit
username, @username, or https://github.com/username all resolve to the same profile. Anyone can add any public username. Verify ownership if the row is yours.
Updates and movement
GitHub responses are cached about 8 hours. Submit again after that to refresh your score. Verified and stale rows also refresh on a daily cron. Rank ▲▼ is vs your previous refresh so you can see if you climbed.
README badge
Each profile has a markdown badge you can paste on GitHub. Recruiters who never visit the board still see the rank. After you join, the homepage shows the badge to copy immediately.
Why this score
Every profile shows the mix: repos, stars, followers, 90-day public events, account age. Bars are that person’s share of their own score. Same formula, no hidden boosts.
Compare two people
Put two board profiles side by side. Shared languages and the larger public numbers are highlighted so a recruiter can skim — not so two developers can “battle.”

- How does the GitHub ranking score work?
- Public non-fork repos 30%, stars 35%, followers 15%, public events in the last 90 days 15%, account age 5%. Counts are log-scaled so a few huge profiles do not erase everyone else.
- Do I need a GitHub login to join?
- No. Paste a username or github.com URL. Anyone can add any public profile. Verify ownership later if the row is yours — that also refreshes stats.
- Is this a commit-streak tracker?
- No. TopMe is a hiring signal, not a shipping game. There are no streaks, no week/month boards, and no product backlinks. Activity is one slice of a career score.
- How do recruiters find people who want work?
- Turn on Available for hire on GitHub, then filter this board to Open to work. Add a location so city/country filters can match you. Copy the recruiter snapshot from your profile.
